ABOUT EXCEL SCHOOL OF NURSING

Smt. R.D. Gardi Bhavnagar Stere Kelavani Mandal (BSKM) has been conducting a one-year course of "Community Medical Assistant" for many years in its institute. It had very good employment avenues for less educated women.

Looking at this and potential job opportunities in the nursing sector, the Trustees decided to start a 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M.) course in the year 2008 after receiving the approval of the Government of Gujarat, Gujarat Nursing Council and the Indian Nursing Council. This was the first self-finance nursing school in Bhavnagar. It was housed in "Smt. Savitriben Ramniklal J. Menta Building" owned by the Trust.

In the meantime, potential donors were approached to construct an independent building. Along with seeding money offered by Excel Crop Care Ltd., Bhavnagar, a leading Agro Chemical Company, many philanthropists offered donations. In 2010, the independent building was constructed with state-of-the-art laboratory, models and educational aids.

Responding to the demand, a 2-year Auxiliary Nurse and Midwives (A.N.M.) course was also started in year 2014.
